What will therapy look like?

An evidence-based approach developed for kids

Our approach integrates evidence-based techniques with a deep understanding of child development, ensuring that our services are comprehensive and effective in addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges.

Each session is designed specifically for the individual client. We will work on problem-solving their challenges, amplifying their best assets, and strengthening the connection with their most important support system — you! With many toys and art supplies in the therapy room, clients are given a wide variety of ways to express themselves outside of traditional talk therapy. Many children, as well as adults, communicate easier and more effectively through metaphor, play, movement and expressive arts than they are able to using only verbal communication.

We love working with children, and approach our work with young clients with respect. We consider their perspective, empathize with their feelings, and teach them the tools they need to feel more successful at home, school, and out in the world. There is nothing more important in a child's development than their parent relationship. Ultimately, we believe each parent knows their child better than anyone and wants what is best for them — with you as a collaborator, we hope that we can bring your family more peace and a greater sense of ease.

Types of Therapy

Play Therapy &

Attachment-based
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Parent Guidance & Support

In play therapy and art therapy, clients are given the chance to use a variety of communication tools to express their feelings and needs to their therapist. It is an effective and evidence-based approach that is most appropriate for young children but can be beneficial for people of all ages. Although it may look like "just playing", play therapy with a trained professional is purposeful, dynamic and can be hugely beneficial to improving a client's circumstance.

An attachment-based CBT approach will be incorporated into therapy for clients of all ages, and may be relied on more heavily for older clients or clients who gravitate towards more concrete and literal therapeutic interventions than play therapy. This approach relies on an attuned and strong relationship between the therapist and client. Their relationship is used as a model to learn about how a client relates to others and to practice healthy relationships with positive social skills and communication skills.  The therapist uses psychoeducation to help clients better understand their challenges and CBT skills to practice overcoming those challenges.

Parents play an integral role in the therapeutic process and their engagement is necessary. Since parents spend much more time with their children than therapists do, we hope to teach parents many of the skills we learn in therapy so they can support their child's progress at home. Importantly, the child is the primary client and it is crucial the therapist maintains trust with the client.  Parents will be given general information about what happens in session and what goals are being worked on, as well as guidance and suggestions for home. Parenting requires support, and the therapist is available to offer that support by scheduling separate parent sessions as needed.

Our fees and schedule

We provide online and in-person services in Atlanta, Georgia and online therapy throughout California. Sessions are generally once a week and last 50 minutes. Therapy will be a combination of individual sessions with the client and family sessions with the parent, parents, or additional family members - depending on the age of the child, the goals, and presenting needs.

The cost is $165 per session. Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance at this time. Sliding-scale prices may be available; please reach out to discuss a flexible fee option.

A preliminary phone consultation is free and highly recommended. This allows you to explain why you're seeking therapy, ask questions, and decide whether the therapist is the right fit for you.

Good faith estimate notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
